No, it isn’t about drugs, but is devoted to music made using the Acid family of products. Anything I’ve recorded within the past year has been done using Acid Music or Acid Pro. The quality is amazing, far better than recordings made on equipment requiring much more $ not so long ago.

This very strange site was brought to attention by my “don’t call me boss!”, Craig. This is someone who he knew in his days as a musician. Mr. Vampire Gerbil was the lead guitarist in the NJ heavy metal band “Monroe” so I’m told.

Stan, who has toured and recorded with many major artists over the years, starting with The Asbury Jukes, followed by David Bowie and any number of Niles Rogers produced projects, as well as a couple of appearances with Stevie Ray Vaughan. His site contains a very amusing biography. He is also very loud on tenor. Once on a gig the leader put one of those microphone shaped soap bars on Stan’s mike stand to try to appease a club owner who though the volume was too much. Stan caught on after a couple of sets

Susie Monick is an extraordinary banjo player. Years ago, back in 1976 and 1977, Robinswing, the band I was in at the time played at the Englishtown Music Hall with Buffalo Gals, the Bluegrass fusion band Susie was in at the time. Geoff Berne, who ran the shows at the Eglishtown (NJ) Music Hall combined the two bands for a couple of songs at one of the shows. The second show was a benefit of sorts with a great number of bands, including Ricky Scaggs in his pre-commercial/famous phase.

Maureen Dowd’s New York Times Op-Ed Column
|
In this and age I sometimes think that the sense of consience of the 60’s and early 70’s has been lost forever, and that we’ve all become a flock of complacent sheep. Maureen Dowd is one of the few who haven’t lost this. Lately she has been tearing apart the right wing branch of the current Bush administration on a regular basis. To be impolite, she rips them a new asshole almost anytime she writes. Oh yes, she does it in an extremely witty fashion. Her writing is much more fun than William Safire’s, and to be objective, actually more sane.

Cajun Music MP3 Site
|
While doing some research to try to get a more authentic sound for “Freedom Fries”, I found this site. It has a wonderful assortment of Cajun mp3’s from recordings going back over half a century. Cajun music can be a little grating for some people’s taste, but I can hionestly recommend downloading anything you can off of this site’s collection.

Public Domain Music Site

This is an interesting site where you can search for music in the public domain, including songs that were copyrighted but now freely available for use. This is very important information for musicians.

This is the web site of Larry Graves, aka “Canadian Studmuffin” , one of the better known characters on Acid Planet. His web site is devoted to a variety of off kilter subjects, while his music is difficult to describe. He primarily works in the Comedy area on AP, but his music is better than most.

My Cousin’s Son’s Hardcore Band

Nothing like a little nepotism. I found out recently that my cousin Ken’s son Ben is in a hardcore band out of Seattle (where else?), Champion, that will be touring nationally this summer.
