Well what's been going on?
Well let’s see. Since mp3.com (in its previous non industry slave mode) was shut down back in December 2003, Acid Planet has been my primary outlet for music. However, I have started posting some new material on music.download.com (part of CNET, although I wouldn’t recommend looking there yet, soundclick.com, and besonic.com, which I will probably make my primary public outlet. Besonic is based in Germany, and statistics are also broken down by country, so you will be thrilled to know I’ve had songs ranked #14 for Songwriter in France and similar strangeness.
Before mp3.com was shut down, I wound up with about 6000 plays for the year, which is pretty good for someone my age without a clever band name, semi-obscene song titles and the other requirements for success. Many of these plays were in places like Hungary, the Czech Republic, and some spurts in Brazil. Don’t ask me why. Much of my time since late May has been spent working on a project with someone who has a contract for a CD on an indie label. There have been some changes on which type of material was to be the primary focus, but at this point it’s going to be an updated 80’s sound similar to the more progressive groups from that era (The Cure, Depeche Mode, etc.), and one or two of my own songs may be included on it.
